Services
The Institute of General Pathology offers a comprehensive suite of services. We support researchers within the Medical University of Innsbruck, external academic institutions, and commercial partners with high-precision tissue processing and expert analysis.
Our Archive
We maintain an extensive FFPE (Formalin-Fixed Paraffin-Embedded) tissue archive spanning several decades. This unique resource is available for retrospective studies and longitudinal research projects.
Core Methodologies
Our laboratory is equipped to handle everything from routine processing to advanced spatial technologies:
- Tissue Annotation & Quality Control: Expert pathological evaluation and marking of specific tissue areas.
- Histological Processing: Dehydration, paraffin embedding, and precision microtomy (sectioning).
- Routine Staining: H&E (Hematoxylin-Eosin), Giemsa, PAS, etc.
- Special Staining: Trichrome, Reticulin silver staining, Iron, and GMS (Grocott).
- Cryosectioning: Frozen sections of fresh tissue samples, including specialized stains (e.g., lipid/fat staining).
- Immunohistochemistry (IHC): High-standard antibody-based protein detection.
- Generation and cutting of Tissue Microarrays (TMA): Design, construction, and sectioning of TMAs for high-throughput analysis.
- Spatial Transcriptomics Preparation: Specialized tissue preparation and optimization for spatial omics workflows.
